Due to frigid temperatures and extra time needed for buses to idle prior to running routes, Macon County Schools-Franklin area will operate two-hour delay for tomorrow, Thursday, January 23, 2025. Please stay warm and be safe!
Due to the forecasted single-digit temperatures, Macon County Schools-Franklin area will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Wednesday, January 22nd. The extreme cold conditions will prevent buses from starting and additional idle time is necessary to ensure the fleet runs safely and effectively.

Due to the forecasted single-digit temperatures, Macon County Schools-Franklin area will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21st. The extreme cold conditions will prevent buses from starting on time, and additional idle time is necessary to ensure the fleet runs safely and effectively.

Reminder: The Macon County School System will be CLOSED this Monday, January 20th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Students and staff will return on Tuesday, January 21st.

On Tuesday, January 7, PowerSchool alerted North Carolina public schools to a cybersecurity incident impacting student and teacher data across their global client base, including school systems in multiple states. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) notified us on January 11 that PowerSchool confirmed that the threat had been contained and that the compromised data was not shared and had been destroyed.
