There will be no school in the Franklin area, Highlands, or Nantahala beginning Monday, April 3- Friday, April 7, 2023. Students & staff will return on Monday, April 10, 2023.

Friday morning blue lights lit up Franklin High School for a great cause. Macon County Schools and Franklin’s Chick-Fil-A partnered with Macon County Sheriff’s Office and Franklin Police Department this morning to provide free meals to students who arrived to school wearing their seatbelts and arriving in a safe manner. Thank you to all who participated, but more importantly thank you to our students for showing up safely.

Today, Monday, March 20th and tomorrow, Tuesday, March 21st are mandatory workdays for Franklin area schools. This DOES NOT include Macon Early College. Macon Early College is in session today.
Please keep in mind that Franklin area schools follow the Franklin area school calendar. Macon Early College follows the Macon Early College calendar. Highlands School and Nantahala School also have their own calendars. If you have questions or need a copy of any of the school calendars, please contact Macon County Schools Administrative Offices at 828-524-3314.

The School Social Work Association of America is celebrating National School Social Work Week, held this year from March 5-11. During that week, schools, communities and partners acknowledge and recognize school social workers for all they do to support students, families and communities.
This year's theme is "We Rise." School social workers rise to share hope; to listen and understand; to challenge inequities; and to support all students.

SPECIAL CALLED MEETING NOTICE:
The Macon County Board of Education will meet on Thursday, February 23, 2023 beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Macon County Schools Administrative Offices.
The purpose of this meeting is for the Board to hold a hearing on a matter required by law to be held in closed session. Immediately following the meeting being called to order, the Board will entertain a motion to enter into closed session. No action is expected to be taken in open session.
